UN AGENCY WORRIED ABOUT GLOBAL HUNGER

Hunger eats the man and this is very much a true statement in deed. Looking at the vast number of people all around the world, suffering from malnutrition because of improper food to eat, is simply a nightmare come to life. For it is doubtful that if at all there is any hell, then it can possibly be any worse then this. Even as the rich get richer, the gap between them and the poor oppressed also continually widens. This is also where The World Food Programme is finding itself to be in trouble for even as the organization is short on funds by about as much as $3 billion. This is even as the group fights against global hunger.

With the ever scaling food prices this problems, it is only bound to become ever more severe. This was as spoken by Josette Sheeran, the head of the U.N. agency. She said, while giving an interview to The Associated Press, that the hunger problem is being faced by a vast number of the world’s population. This is even as she spoke of how while on a tour to Palestine she was impressed by an electronic food voucher there. It was thus in the Palestinian city of Hebron, that the lady observed and analyzed an innovative electronic food voucher project. This would thus help the one much needy in times of food crises.

The electronic food voucher system was first put to place in the year of 2009 in West Bank in 2009. After meeting with positive responses and running smoothly it is now being applied elsewhere as well. The U.N.'s front line agency continues to battle it out against hunger. For the same now it heavily depends on voluntary contributions which may again be given by governments, corporations and even private individuals. For once, the organization needs huge amounts in charity to deal with the global financial crises this year itself. The vast sum needed is as much as $6 billion this year. On the other hand the agency has only been able to garner half of that sum and still needs about $2.8 billion to deal with the hunger problem.
